Destruction of the Atlanta Fox Theatre's famed Moller pipe organ is likely to occur unless protests are raised.
The Fox has solicited bids which could potentially result in the complete electronic replacement of the complex and original inner workings of their priceless Moller organ.
Because the thousands of electro-pneumatic switches contained within the ninety-year-old organ console have begun to fail to a major extent, repair bids have been placed.
The good news is that part of the bidding process involves requests for complete restoration of the Moller console as built. But bidding specifications also include replacement of the workings with electronic components, instead of restoration.
Appraised ten years ago at $4.8 million dollars, the organ is an invaluable treasure in need of Total Restoration, which is never the expedient. "To restore and preserve" is the chartered purpose of the Fox which has assets of almost $60 million, according to filings with the Internal Revenue Service.
Please register your protest with the Fox: CUT and PASTE the below, click the link, and send the Fox an email.
PLEASE RESTORE THE MOLLER PIPE ORGAN TO ITS ORIGINAL AS-BUILT CONDITION. SAVE THE ORGAN!
